Bees are making a nest in my car
I was washing my '02 Firebird Formula this past weekend and while I was drying between the hatch and the tailights, I heard a buzzing sound like a bee buzzing between the plastic and the hatch window. I took the t-tops out and parked the car in the garage hoping the little thing will fly out on its own. If not, what should I do?

Could just be a fly. Either way, if it's just one, sooner or later it will die if it's trapped. If you heard more than one (you mention nest...) I'd start taking the panels off and checking it out.

It doesnt sound like you are to this point, but ,,,,, if,,,,,, there is honey, bees will always try and put a nest there. You need to pull those panels off and look. Me, i would kill it, and not have another thought. But, you mentioned "nest".

Thanks for all the input on this silly problem but it could be a big problem if left unattended too long. I hope it is nothing but you never know..........

I'd suggest waiting and watching.. See where they are comming and going from.
Bees tend to fly strait home when returning..

Apparently I have a rat in mine or had one atleast. I usually keep my car completely empty of trash, but my parents used it to stay at a hospital a few days and it got some trash in it from sonic. There was a red straw on the back floorboard, chewed to pieces. Then there was a milk shake in the cup holder with a very big hole in the top of it. I have no idea if it's still in there.

Now that you mention it, i found a mouse nest in my glove box one time. Freaked me out. I removed the entire carpet and set sticky mouse traps in the garage for almost a week. That's what you get for leaving the windows open in the garage all the time...

haha
My aunt had an outside cat kill a chipmunk on her front seat once..
Left the head and endtrails. Guess it was a gift lmfao..
I believe they get in along the steering column where it goes through the fire wall.. The rubber grommet does'nt slow them down much. lol
From there they crawl up into the dash and chew their way into just about anything made of plastic/rubber and sometimes things that are'nt..
In the cawl I think they come up the rain drains and it's more of the same, chewing their way into whatever they can..
ONE mouse or rat can render the nicest car/truck inoperative in less than 24 hours..
Not to mention they can leave behind a ton of droppings that can make you and children very sick..
I had a field mouse bite me once while stuck in a sticky trap/tray..
I stomped it..
Then went and got the mail............. kisht, kisht, kisht, kisht....Last edited by Smittro; 05-31-2011 at 06:28 PM.

once i was driving to pick up food for lunch (work break), and suddenly in a flash, a white mouse whizzed across the center part of the dash, just above where the vents/radio is, and disappeared! scared the $%# out of me! later, i left a mousetrap on the floor that night, got him!

This bee is making my life a living h***. He don't fly around (so I can locate him) he just buzzes like crazy.
I tryed sucking it out with a shop-vac and that didn't work. I'm at my wits end on how to get rid of this bee, short of blowing of the car.

Have you checked under the rear bumper or pull the taillights to see if the bugger is buzzing? I dunno if the 4th gens have them, but the 3rd gens had a "third hand" that pulled the trunk shut. Maybe that's the buzzing noise you hear?
