been skoal free since sept. 29th here. Only reason I quit was I was loaded on Percucets for about 3 weeks straight after surgery and didn't have any way to get any skoal. Decided afterwards I didn't need it so I quit.

i quit smoking for about 4-5 months 2 years back. then i went to vegas for a long weekend and started again.
in order to truly quit, you have to have it in your head. what i mean you really have to have the mindset of not smoking any more. if you only have a have ass mindset about quitting, chances are you will fail.
the patch helps a lot. props to you for quitting!!2000 nhra edition formula

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
you need to substitute something to aid the quiting too. Be it reading or workign out or whatever you can do to forget it. Think about this: do 100 push ups everytime you want a cig.

J, it depends. i didnt substitute anything for it and did fine.
i planned quitting a week ahead of time. the nite before i planned stopping i put a patch on when i went to sleep. the weird thing was that for the first week when its the hardest to quit, i did fine, i wasnt going nuts craving smokes.
then months later a weekend of debauchery fucked ruined it.

I can't tell you guys how many times I've quit in the past.
The longest was almost 6 months. I was racing BMX at the time. That, plus my son were good incentive. But, as soon as he quit racing, so did I and somehow started up once again.
You really do need to plan and prepare yourself. Plan that quit date and be mentally committed to want to quit.
And, alcohol was always what triggered me to start again. So, this time I had to stop drinking as well. I waited until I hadn't had a cigarette for about 8 months before I felt that I could drink without having a smoke.
It's tough. But worth it. Sometimes I still want a cigarette. But, not as badly as I don't
I can't believe it will be two years on the 2nd
Oh, and I needed the gum to quit. And..... I still use it But, it's far better for me and a clean nicotine
Good luck to you guys trying to quit

I quit cold turkey 8-9 years ago. I don't remember how long. I was building my first PC, had smokes, just was too pre-occupied to smoke.
No plans on actually starting again.
Good luck!!
