yeah! im excited but kind of worried at the same time...i read a bunch of articles that they dont like the way rock and metal are getting more and more electro-techno-ish...so they were going for a zeppelin/Sabbath sound

    Scott,

You and I seem to like the same music. You should try KNAC.COM. Back in the 80's & early 90's they were Los Angeles's premier metal station (105.5) that got bought out and replaced by a foreign language station in 95. 2 years later they came back as an internet radio station and are still going strong to this day. I listen to them all day long at work. Check them out: KNAC.COM - The Loudest Dot Com on the Planet! This A7X song is in their rotation.

2 of their motto's: "If it's too loud then you're too old!" and "Kicking yer ass so hard yer lips go vertical!" They feature a program from 12 noon to 1 (Pacific time - they brodcast from LA) called "Back in the Day" playing all the hair/heavy/death metal you remember.

I've already got a few cuts off their new album - helps to know people on the inside.

I've always been a fan. Their new stuff is pretty good.

And KNAC rocks! Their playlists aren't far off from what I've got loaded into my iPod.

just let Zach listen to that.....he's a big A7X fan. You can definitely tell Portnoy is no longer on drums though. Guy is frigin amazing.

Have you heard Portnoy's latest group Winery Dogs? As I play drums Ive been tuned into him since I 1st heard Dream Theater back in the early 90's. Good things are happening in rock/metal these days...

A7X are to me today's Iron Maiden but harder. I got into them late, but have been jamming all the time.

Jim thanks I'll check them out.

yeah.....not bad but I think they're doing a dis-service to Portnoy's talent. Very very tame drums on most of the stuff I've heard minus a few fills. I'm a Kotzen fan too and as a group they're not bad but I don't listen to their music and say either the guitar or the drums kick ass. Listen to Dream Theater and A7X then go listen to Winery Dogs.....doesn't even sound like the same drummer to me.

I'm not a drummer. I can play them but just enough to keep a beat going. What I wouldn't want to be is the guy that steps into A7X behind this guy and then Portnoy. Those are some huge shoes to fill. Both are bad ass.

Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan was a talented man. I was late to the A7X fan-base myself (2007 "Avenged Sevenfold). But after seeing them on "Nightmare Tour" with Halestorm... I went back and bought all their other albums. I dig the songs from "Waking the Fallen" the most. However, I like the way they preform them now... after vocal coaching.

I've seen them twice, they are one of the best performances of rock music I've seen live. Really liked Rob Zombie too though.
