I just want a garage that can hold at least 5-6 cars and have at least one lift...nothing flashy needed (except for shiny new tools).

A friend of mine has the 2 bay garage on the house, and built a nice standalone garage with 3 larger than normal bays, with a lift in one. I am getting more jealous of that all the time.
There was a house for sale around here that had a sweet 5 bay garage. If I were ready to buy yet, I woulda moved on that one!

^ yeah when my parents were house shopping my dad wanted the house with the 2500 square foot garage. thing was huuuuge, and tall enough for a lift, and a second floor. my mom wasn't a fan of the house itself, so they passed on it.
i've been hinting at him to use the empty 2.5 acres we have to stick a large garage/workshop back there.
