expensive to own and maintain. its italian. the bike itself is first rate. if its going for that low its either the deal of the century or theres a rod poking through a cylinder that you missed lol

Yeah 6g's is cheap for an RSV Mille. IMO they have been the best sportbike made for almost 10 years now. New they are like 16 grand and up depending on trip level.

Aprilias are very expensive to repair and mantain just like Ducatis. I would stay away from it for that price. Unless you know someone that is very knowledgable about italian bikes that could check it out for you.

price seems to be OK for that year, they just don't sell that good
new they were going for over $13K and over $17K for the Mille model
I was looking at them too in the dealership, they STILL have 02, 03 and 04 leftovers BRAND NEW!
IMO you gotta know a few things before you pull the trigger:
- what's the maintenance schedule on them
- will you be doing your own work on them
- how many miles a year will you ride
- are you ready for the liter bike

Yeah, 6k for an 01 is about right, especially if it's not the Mille/R version.
Expensive parts but typically less labor intensive as a Ducati. They use traditional valve springs, not Ducati's desmo system which takes constant adjustment.
I'd look for an '03 or later bike. I think that's the year they updated it. (Could very well be wrong.)
Sweeeeeet bikes...
God Bless V-Twin sportbikes.
