I loved surge!
I dont know, but rumors from my friends at the time (When I was ~12 years old, so no validity there) were saying that there was too much caffeine in it. But I doubt thats why, I didn't have much more caffeine than similar drinks like mountain dew, and not as much as todays energy drinks

The rumors are not true, mt. dew has more caffeine in it than Surge. It started out in Norway, but was later being sold in the U.S. When the sales of surge started to slip, coca cola halted production, yet it's still sold in Norway as "Urge".
