anyone know much about this mustang?

my buddy at work tells me the other day, "well my neighbor might have a little competition for you" he said his neighbor just bought a mustang and says that its a special edition of some kind, yellow with black racing stripes like 500 made with 400 hp and it was 100,000.00. i proceed to tell him that his neighbor is an idiot for buying a mustang for that much money collectors edition or not. what his car makes is not to much off from mine and it would probably be a good race.

so what do you know, yesterday in one part of town i see him but i'm cutting grass so i'm in my silverado, "damn". later in the day i'm in the t/a heading home and it had just started raining, well guess what i saw coming the opposite way, yup that little yellow dildo and normally i would have turned around but no way in the rain.

one thing that i'm really curious about is it said 302 on the hood scoop. anyone know anything about this car? it's not a shelby gt, and i don't think its a roush but to tell you the truth i really don't know much about these cars.

I don't know much about it either. Is it a 08', and yes he is an idiot for paying that much.

Since you don't know the year, which bodystyle is it. That would help narrow it down. Sounds like he's an idiot or exaggerated on the price to sound kew.

302? in a newer body style? wtf? thats a little over the 300stock hp and they have 4.6 not a 5.0 so idk

there has not been a 302 mustang built since 95. lets get that out of the way first. every mustang since has been a 4.6 with the exception of the 5.8 00 cobra R and the 5.4 shelby GT500 (and then there is the 3.8s too... cant forget about them)

the 5.0 stroke is a popular mod for anyg uys wanting to go that extreme. my buddy has one actually. just like stroking ur TA to 383, just... smaller. this car may have done that.

im also going to go out on a limb and say he did NOT pay 100k for the car, but instead decided to blow smoke up ur neighbors ass and make himself sound like a badass. a few reasons for this:
1. we already know the "limited edition" stuff is complete bullshit. they didnt make a 302 in any recent years, so if its 302 its been modded to that
2. aside from MAYBE ( juuuuust maybe) the 00 cobra R for its rarity, there is not a late model stang worth that much. even the shelby sold at the jackson auctions for a ridiculous 75k or osmething like that.
3. 400 hp. good lord if that isnt the magical "lets just reach into my ass and see what is the first thing i can pull out" number people always fall back on. every freaking time someone doesnt know what the hell they are talking about, "probably about 400 hp" is always the first thing i hear. i would suspect this stang is not something to be too concerned about.

now, if it is a 302 stroker, u could be in trouble. I have full boltons and a cam, and my buddy with his 5.0 stroked 4.6 with cams, full boltons, and cnc'ed heads is dead even with me down low. we didnt get into 3rd gear (since im on stock gears my 2nd raps out to 80) so maybe i would have taken him. a 3v GT built this same way would be MUCH faster

There is a guy who works/owns a guitar shop I pass by that has a orange-ish colored new mustang with "302" and some sort of hockey style stripes down the side. I'll try and get pics.

well they mad 3 different style of the new ones they got the 300 hp 400hp and the 500hp ive looked it up before

not sure on the price but i have seen several

if he did pay a 100k he is an idiot especially with the zr1 around the corner

i wouldnt be the least bit worried about running him,go smoke him and come tell us how easy it was

Saleen actually produces a mustang with an engine that displaces 302cu.in. No it's not a pushrod engine but Saleen does make 2 mustangs with it, one S/Cd and the N/A.

I could not find a list price, but I'm guessing it's closer to 50-60K. I must say I'd rather have the S/Cd 302 car than the S302xtreme, alot less money and no ugly ass body kit.

i knew damn well i saw 302 on that hood scoop, and as far as the price goes my buddy at work probably didn't get into to talking to him that much about it (he's not really into cars that much) and just threw 100,000.00 out there. as far as the year it is brand new.

thats what this one looks like... maybe like a darker shade of yellow but it has to be the same color because now that you mention it it does have maybe a hint of orange too. but the stripes i'm almost positive they went down the center of the car.

There are alot of other company's doing custom Stang's now. Many possibility's and many are doing the 5.0 stroker mod motors as already stated. It wouldn't be hard to obtain 400hp with a 3 or 4 valve head.

Is it passable to get a pick of the car even from a cell phone?

I don't think the LS1 community is worse than any other forum. We talk smack on stangs, they talk smack on us. ricers try to say they can smoke both of us, even though from our perspective we have our blinkers on and are slowing down while they zoom by.

Go to any other forum and see if it's any better. Everyone talks smack...
