Anyone know any current specials on computers?
I need a new PC. My Dell Dimension 8200 has lasted me 6 years, but it is now making ungodly noises.
I prefer another Dell since this one lasted me so long, but perhaps one of you out there know of some specials going on. I dont have enough time to build one considering I work more and I am moving out, so I need a prebuilt one.
I use my computer for internet, latest video games, and school work. Basically, I need a top notch one.

Best place to look would probably be Dell's website, quite often they have online store deals. How much do you want to spend? They have desktops as low as $400, but if you want to play the latest computer games, be prepared to drop some cash.

just get on their website or call em. you can get a notebook for about 550 too. and they usually take less than a week to delivery. but if you want a "top notch" one, look at their xps lineup

I am looking around the price of $1K. A desktop too.
I have this question on another site and a big thing that has me worried is the addition of Vista on almost all new machines now..

Apparently, there are good deals on desktops at the Dell Outlet.

You should be able to get something pretty nice for that. I think you can probably get an XPS for that amount.
I'm not a fan of Vista either, and last summer I was looking at laptops because my girlfriend needed one for college, and get this bullshit: They were charging an extra $400 if you wanted your new computer to come with WinXP instead of Vista

Vista has its shit in one sock now. I had issues when it first came out with my old 2007 Dell. The new Vista on my 2008 Dell smokes !
No issues at all and for research, Vista is by far the best program. I'm using it for my Masters research. btw - inspiron 1720 upgraded

I forget which car company, but they have refused any microsoft (vista) software on all their cars and decided to use XP until Windows 7 came out...
