Any HVAC guys. I have a Question.
I am planing on putting a Modine HD60 in my 3 car garage. I am going to run gas flex from the house to the heater. The run from the house to the heater is about 70ft. Will I be ok with 3/4" flex. I am not sure if the pressure drop would be to great and I will have to up grade to 1" flex. I am unable to find any pressure drop charts on the net.
Heater Specs
Modine HD60
Input BTUH 60,000
Output BTUH 48,000
Gas connection on the unit 1/2"
If any more info is needed let me know.
Thanks,
Ryan

the 70 foot run is pretty long for flex tube you might want to hard pipe it a little closer . the best thing to do is read the install instructions on the heater and follow them, you cant go wrong!

I just looked on my gastite sizing chart, and you should be OK with 3/4" pipe. 1/2 will be a little light pushing that far. Natural gas or propane? It shouldn't matter but be nice to know.

I'd definately run 3/4" hard pipe the majority of the way. There is a lot of pressure drop through flex lines. Just did a job that had maybe 2' of 3/4'" flex line and the pressure drop when the unit went into high fire was amazing. The plumber had to take the flex line out and hard pipe it to get rid of the drop. 1" flex might be ok but I'd avoid running it the entire length.

Probably best to check a plumbing forum, HVAC guys don't run gas.

Every HVAC guy that came over to give me a quote ran their own gas. Most HVAC gays are also pipe fitters.
Thanks for the input guys. I think were I T-off in the basement I am going to run 1" black pipe untill I get to the conduit that runs to the garage then go to 3/4" Pro Flex CSST.
