If you are just mainly going to be listening then buy the cheapest and smallest unit you can find. Buy a good antenna though so that you will get good reception.

as far as the antenna go with a little wilson they cost around $50 they will handle up to 1000 watts. i have two of them they are the magnetic variety. one of mine has taken a beeting in the woods on my Blazer and is still holding up great.

Mine is a cobra 49 it's cost new was 39 dollars. i live in a hilly enviroment it will do better in the open country. the cobra 49 is the cheapest they make. like the saying goes you get what you pay for. and it a mud monster I didn't want somthing expensive.

cobra 29 classic is a good choice........a wilson antenna would be good or a k40......factory cb's put out 4 watts, but if u can find somebody who can peak it out it will push around 30........or as already stated u can get an linear amp and really boost the power, of course they are illegal but little chance of getting caught.....most truck stops have good prices on their cb's.....I want a hand held cb so I dont have a antenna on my ss

I agree on the Cobra 29... It's fairly inexpensive but it;s a little bulky in size. If you got the room it's a good choice.
