I didn't feel it. I hear some people in L.A. and even Malibu did though.

Technically it was in Mexico not the USA. Epicenter was 20 miles SE of Mexicali. But I hear ya. And I felt it here in PHX.

That was in Mexicala on the other side of the border. I was at work when it happened. All the lights in the restaurant started swaying. I actually had fun with it. Just stood there and felt the ground sway. It was pretty weak by the time it reached me.

Because we have the means to enforce building standards, so people don't get crushed by houses made of particle board and feces, that collapse when the wind blows.

Here's a few pics for you of some damage from the Northridge quake.

I didn't mean to say that it was impossible for it to happen in America, just that it's much more likely for the third world countries to have much greater fatalities/destruction, as well as lacking the ability to help themselves after the fact, which is why it's more common to see aid sent to them.

Oh yeah, I know that. I think Stanger was just pointing out how we always come to everyone else's rescue and for some reason, everyone else doesn't seem to do the same for us. And, no, I don't expect third world countries to come to our rescue

What is creepy was that the earthquake was preceeded by a lot moderate 3.0-4.0 earthquakes in the days and hours before the big one.
