I know it's routine for anyone who lives in the area (Not to mention a terrible thing), but for people like me who have a house fire at the top of their list of biggest-fires-seen, it's mind blowing, especially in the format of excellent photography.

It's a scary thing. I'm not in the line of fire this time. But, the smoke and air quality is really bad. However, the season in not over yet and the Santa Ana's haven't even kicked up. So, stay tuned...

I had a view like some of those pictures in Oct of 07 from my yard. We were evacuated and everyone on the street was freaking out, loading shit up into cars, trucks and motor homes at 2:00 am.

I guess my point is, although it may be routine... you never get used to it. It sucks.

It's one of the many prices you pay living out here though.

Yeah, all is OK. All but the air quality. The sun really hasn't come through in 2 days. There is this odd orange glow and the skies are gray brown.

On the west coast it's fires and earthquakes, the northwest gets floods and a volcano, the midwest has tornados, down south hurricanes kick the crap out of everything... I think I am quite happy here in Pennsylvania!
