Ahh technology, what will come next?
So I'm sitting here about to install my secondary hard-drive thinking of my first laptop made in 98. Just 9 years ago, that laptop cost as much as this one and had 4 GB of hard drive space, 32 MB RAM, a 8 MB graphics card, and I used dial-up. 9 years later, I have a new laptop that cost just as much with 350 GB of hard drive space, 2 GB RAM (2000 MB), a 512 graphics card, and a wireles LAN connection...
Then I thought like this. 9 years ago for the same price the best I could get was 1.1% of this hard drive space, 1.6% of RAM, and 1.6% of graphics memory that is offered today. Just 9 YEARS and we grew this much in computer technology.
I gotta say that on a day-to-day basis we forget how we take these things for granted. 4 years ago I had a measly 20 songs on 1 CD for my car. Now I can have 20,000 songs with my iPod...approx. 80 minutes of music vs. 80,000 minutes in one unit.
What will be next? I think if we could just see 10 years from now some of us would be in awe. With stem-cell research on the medical frontier, the human brain just beginning to be manipulated as seen with curing tourrette's syndrome with manipulating electric currents inside of the brain, and cars going ohhh sooo faster all the time with less energy necessary to keep it going(keep in mind in the 20's max speed was like...45 MPH? I bet you it guzzled more than a Hummer too!)

I don't think that's possible in our lifetime at least. I look at my grandparents and they don't have a dishwasher, water-cooler, electric coffee-maker (they use stove-top coffee pots), a pc, and my grandfather still pulls weeds by hand! My mom had to buy them their first microwave about 8 years ago and their first DVD player 5 years ago...
When I visit I feel like I'm walking on a "That 70's Show" set.

When I began to work for AT&T, the offices I worked in had 1MB STARLan (Shared) and most of the PC's had 10MB hard drives, with some 20 MB and 40MB for the managers.
then in the early 90's they moved to 10MB STARLan.
