The top one where I have a circle marked. I drilled with a 5/16ths bit and then tapped it with a 3/8ths coarse thread tap.

It came out very nicely, and I didnt break through into any coolant passages.

Ok, my concern is how much material do you have to support the load of the bolt and the alternator? Did it protrude through to the backside into the open area? Since the heads are not cast with the accy boss and lack the extra material, the issue exists of possible stripping treads and or cracking the head there.

Well, I didn't look closely at the second pic you posted. Looks clean. Any protrusion into the rocker area? Can't tell from pic.

I was worried about the same thing, and I would have returned the kit it if the bolt hole would have gone just through the wall of the head, but the hole went into metal the whole way, into the floor of the rocker arm valley. there is a bit of material right there to take it. The pictures wont come out, its too dark.

If it terribly weakens the head and cracks it, oh well, I guess Ill have to get some aftermarket heads.
