88 Corvette
If anyone keeps up with my threads, they would know my wreck. You would also know my stepdad bought an 88 Corvette.
Well I am in need of a car, been driving it a bit, cleaned it up really good. Well he's been hinting at giving it me... Well I told my mother no on his terms, not giving him my T/A... I seen a 98 LS1 with 110,000 miles go on ebay for $1499, trans for about $500, wheels $400 ($200 shipping), plus there's just lots of good parts. That I want to part out, sell the Falcon. Then buy the 98 WS6 in the for sale section. But if I can convince my stepdad, I want to get a 2nd gen from my step grandpa and just rebuild it with a modern drivetrain. I would need his help though...
But yes, to the point. He bought a 88 Corvette a while back, for $3,000. It's a bit rough, with about 105,000 miles, if that's actual... But it mechanically runs well, just the electrical is shit. None of that digital gauges work.
I am going to get pics of it tomorrow, to post up here. But do you guys feel it's worth it, for a daily driver? I know he will sell it to me for what he paid for, maybe a bit cheaper since my B-Day is on the 15th.
I have the money to pay for most of it, but can pay the rest off, in a few checks... He would let me make payments.

Its an Auto, you think it's worth it for a daily driver?
I don't really care if the AC works, I got the windows working, so I just put them down...
This will be great for what ever F-Body I get next. Then it can be a weekend toy, that I can build the fuck up. I know the WS6 is a good deal in the buy section. But still have my heart set on an 2nd Gen, with an LSX motor, T-56 and built 12 bolt... I can do it, with help from my stepdad. Just have to sell the Falcon though. But I am have work done on it, and should be done soon. So it will go up on ebay.

I kinda like it, I like how the car hugs you and how much more solid it feels in the corners. I am just asking is it worth it, it needs some work, but I feel its better then some $2,000-3,000 cars within 300 miles on Autotrader.
My idea is, do a little work on it, should be a nice reliable ride. Sell the Falcon, part the T/A. Finish this job for a local business seting up there network. I should have enough money to start this project I been thinking up, witch would be my first big project... I will only do this if my stepdad will help, it will take a few years I am sure.

Or for the purchase price of the Vette only you could have a bad ass ls1 (swap that sucker in) c4 instead of dealing with a second gen. Sleepery with the pre-zr1 style rear. Sell the ferd and part the rest of the t/a and pull the ls1 again to turn it into a heads/cam 383 when you get the money together.

I think I may look into that a bit more, if anyone has any links that would be helpful.
I can't find my glasses, and I have a headache, so stepping away from the computer for a bit.

I got some pics of the Vette... Also I am a bit tight on cash, if anyone would run a VIN check, that be nice. Just curious on the miles.
The Bad...
Rear Hatch does not open.
Rough shape, all around
Gauges don't work
A/C Don't work, have to help the windows down
Have to help the head lights up
Slower then shit
Brakes are iffy, but allot of C4's seem to have weak brakes.
The good?
It's cheap, better then a civic
Runs good
If miles legit, that's cool
Here's some pics...
