    Why?

    #1. Because I can.
#2. I've been saying for years that he's over rated.

Couldn't expect anyone to live up to his dad tho. Anything less that what his dad is considered a failure.

Don't hear much of the positive of him. Only hear people bitching that he hasn't won 300 races and 8 championships.

Finally, I ask what’s reasonable to expect from Dale Earnhardt Jr. this season. He hasn’t been in the Chase in two of the last three years.

“Sure, absolutely,” he says. “It’s pretty f------ easy to make the Chase.”

It’s pretty f------ easy to make the Chase.
    Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Once again, McGrew speaks up. “I’m sorry?”

it is .. just ask Jimmie Johnson...

That part, I totally agree with. Sure, maybe some people might have thought he would be as good as his Dad, but let's face it, the competition is way tougher than it was when Sr. was racing. Expecting anyone to win 7 Championships isn't reasonable at all.

With the equipment and the team he has, he really should be expected to make the chase. He's missed it two of the last three years. Chalk it up to whatever you want I guess.

Someone on this forum said Hendrick wanted Jr. only to sell a lot of merchandise, and make a lot of money doing so. I'd say that is spot on.

Totally agree. But as far as the competition from now compared to back then, well, thats impossible to compare. Racing was 180 degrees different than it was back in the 80's and 90's. I hate that fucking new COT they have. Obviously Jr hates it too

Didn't Richard Petty win a race by 17 laps once? Sure, that's in the 70's, but still.

I don't believe you'll ever see a race in which someone laps the entire field under a green flag.

I believe the competition has gotten tougher, and more teams are at the TOP level compared to back then.

Yup, started watching in 1987. Huge Davey Allison fan. My dad got me into it, him being a huge Earnhardt fan.
The new nascar is complete garbage. Racing was 100 times better back in the 90's than it is today. People who say differently obviously never experienced it.

Unfortunately I do, the years just keep piling up. I had some great times at the races and I even drank a beer or two.

I no longer watch Nascar, the stupid car of the future is gay. The only difference now is stickers and engines. I'll wait until 2012 when the new cars take over, rumor is it has to be rwd from the factory and will be based on a stock car...by by Toyota

Sorry, but there is no new car in development for Cup. NW however is getting a new car which so far, looks a million times better than what the Cup series has.

How was it better .. I think it is the tracks more than it is the COT.. I remember Kyle used to dominate Rockingham would be on his own lap or 10+ seconds on the field ...Talladega was no where as good as it is today .. Bristol was better and Atlanta and Pocono was great races ...So I say it was the tracks and the cars , because they were so different, and the drivers .. And I still think it had a lot to do with the fact not everybody liked Winston Cup , or knew about it ...
