Well, I never expected to see Mopar questions on this site but I am very glad to see this one. Being an old Mopar man from the 70's on, I feel the 2nd Gen. 426 Hemi was a motor that was better served on the track then on the street. The first run was 64 and 65 with a huge cam, 13.5:1 CR, cross ram intake, 1540 cfm, and solid lifters. This was a race fuel only engine but when they got to 1970 and 71 they were more streetable and had hydraulic lifters and a better cam with a lower 10.25:1 CR. The body style of the Hemicuda was IMHO the best of the Pony Cars even if it did weigh 3800 lbs. I love the shaker hood, the lines from hood to trunk and the interior was just off the charts. The 70-71 Cuda looked great with any engine, they did have seven ( 7 ) different engines, three transmissions, and three different rears with seven gear ratio choices. Wow, I wish they could do that today. I would put the Cuda in the top three with the 67 Vette and the 73 SD Trans Am. I am a Mopar guy at heart but you gotta give props to the others.

I am not bashing on Mopar at all here. Big fan of Mopar myself. Cuda's are nice and I would love to own one myself. But I would want a Superbird or a 69 Charger first.

No problem at all. Be glad you can pick one car to say is the greatest or top 10. I can just think of many I would want to own. My number one choice would be a 71 camaro Z28. My first car was a 71 camaro and where my passion for Z28 camaro's comes from. I know many would not put a 71 camaro as their number one choice. But that does not change how I feel about them..

Z28. I know how you feel about the bow tie brand. They had some nasty MF'ers back in the day. I know because I was racing in 1978 and I can tell you the LS6 Chevelle's, Rat motored Camaro's, and Big Block Vette's tore up the tracks. We had the Hemi's and 440's and Ford. Well, we did not have much to worry about from the blue oval boys in the heavy eleminator class. Getting back to Z28Thunder, that model Camaro gave me fits in 78 and 79. I guy named Jim Harrow had one with the LT1, solid lifter 360 hp motor, M-21 trans and a 4:11 12 bolt. I had a 440 6-Pac Charger at the time and that Chevy small block gave me all I wanted every time I lined up against him. Man those cars were tufffff.

I was racing in 1981 and at that time my 71 was only 10 years old. Heck my 00 Z is 11 years old.. There are many great muscle cars out there. And most people will have one car that is their favorite or greatest. Back to 1981 I had a Lime Green 69 Challenger that use to give me fits..

I wish I was around in the 70's! My dad had a 1970 LT-1 M-22 Vette in Bridgehampton Blue and a 1970 LT-1 Z-28 M-22 in orange with black stripes.

He'd easily go through a set of tires every summer in the Camaro!

I was never around to see them but he's got a couple of pics from him road racing his Vette and some slides, yes slides, of his Z.

You mean the 70, right? Though some call it a 1970 & 1/2 and THEN teh 1971.

1971 had a lower compression version of the 70 LT1. Power dropped 30 hp in the Z28 from the 70 to the 71. The smaller rear spoiler on the 70 is much better looking than the 75" tall one used from 71-81. lol

Dodge was one of the only folks who kept the power up and compression the first few years of the 70s.

Nope 71... Pulled the slow slugged 307 out and put a stock 350 in it.. Removed the 3 speed saginaw for the M-22 at the same time.

Love the look of those cars. That was my uncles 1st car. 1971 Z28 4-speed with 3.73 gears. DUI plus being a shitty driver drove that car in the ground before 1974. lol
