7 Dead In STREET RACE Crash........WOW
ACCOKEEK, Md. - A car plowed into a crowd that apparently gathered to watch a drag race on a suburban road early Saturday, killing seven people and injuring at least four, police said.
The car went out of control on Route 210 around 3:40 a.m. and hit people standing on the roadside, Prince George's County Police Cpl. Clinton Copeland said. A tractor-trailer that came by shortly afterward may also have struck someone on the road as it tried to avoid the crash, he said.
"It's probably one of the worst scenes I've seen," Copeland said. "This is a situation that could have been avoided, and it's a very tragic situation."
Four people were taken to hospitals, Copeland said. Their conditions weren't immediately known.
Route 210 has two lanes in each direction and traffic lights about every 150 to 200 yards in Accokeek, about 20 miles south of Washington.
Investigators were working to piece together the chain of events and had "more questions than answers," Copeland said.
FUCKED UP SHIT!!!
Not any good info yet!! Sounds like a terriable accident though.Last edited by LS2Tuner; 02-16-2008 at 06:29 AM.

Yeah on the import deal you break a half shaft that car is instantly going sideways in one direction or the other. That's why I NEVER understood why they always stand sooo fucking close to the street and line up inches from the cars that are racing........ This will be another national media deal to make "drag racing" bad......
It will be really fucked also if it comes out that all 7 were just watching and not either drivers.
Either way I feel bad for the fact that 7 people are dead that a hell of alot of family and friends that are going to have to deal with that sudden senseless death.

I used to live there, 15 year's ago. I know exactly where they raced. I'm surprised they are still doing it. There where some damn good races there 15 year's ago. Not uncommon for $1,000.00 bets.
Here is more.

Just another reason not to do it. I don't care if you are the best driver in the world, accidents can/will continue to happen. This is exactly why I don't street race anymore. I don't want to take a chance on having to live with that kind of guilt.
I feel bad for those 7, and their families.

Can you please show me where the Gov't says they want to put an end to RWD cars?
On the wreck...quite tragic. Unfortunately, few will learn any lessons from this, and many will make excuses.

there is another thread on this too i saw...
"There were just bodies everywhere; it was horrible," said Crystal Gaines, 27, whose father was among the dead.
Gaines said she grabbed her child but could not help her father, William Gaines Sr., 61.
Sucks for those who died but had they exercised a little common sense, this could have been avoidedLast edited by KyleLs1; 02-16-2008 at 09:13 AM.

Authorities were working to identify the victims by showing digital photos of them to bystanders who said loved ones had been hurt. John Courtney said after viewing one of the images that his brother, Mark, 33, was among the dead.
"He liked going to the race track, watching races," Courtney said. "It's going to take a toll on my family for a long time."

Great as the death toll rises so dose the "black cloud" over drag racing since that is what all the stories are titled as on the web..........

Okay...these are investigators??? Let me tell you, if someone was hit by a semi, you fucking know it. That is the one is the the pile of cream and suds. As it is, just another case of Darwinism. Stand that close to a street race and you put yourself in that position. Lets all take a moment and be glad they will not be passing their seed on.
