426 HEMI for 2020 Challenger
There will be a 426 HEMI in some model of Challenger for it's 50th Anniversary (2020 model year). Numbers bouncing around are in the 520-540hp range with similar TQ. Also, an aluminum block also seems to be an increasing likelihood. Lots of people are thinking 100lbs will be shaved, and the numbers will be around 530hp/535TQ.
This will make it quicker than the Camaro and Mustang in the quarter mile while still not keeping up with either in any sort of turning/handling competition. Seems like Dodge is wanting to own the "muscle car" wars, while backing off of the "sports car".
Think Chevy and Ford will up the ante again before the Challenger gets a new platform around 2023 or 2024?Last edited by OKSS; 04-16-2018 at 11:05 AM.

Yup.....it's for certain both will. But the real question is will Challenger get a much need fix for it's traction issue to handle it?
They really need to narrow the frame back there to make room for some meat otherwise it's going to look like me at the track on street tires. Spinning.....
Couple of weeks ago I saw a brand new Hellcat Challenger get it's ass handed to it by a twin turbo 4 cyl Civic.
And for the record I like the Challenger as a cruiser.

I still think the Challenger looks the best of the new age muscle cars. They kept the traditional look alive in a modern era.
The Camaro is too small for anyone taller than 6'. I can stretch out nicely in the Challenger. The Challenger is a smoother ride too IMO.
I think something along the lines of the Demon's Nitto's will be an available option for the 426 cars.Last edited by OKSS; 04-16-2018 at 06:50 PM.

If they offer the 426 in a Hemi Orange R/T Scat Pack and its not more than $45k with most options, I'll pick one up.
