4-wheel drive owners and / or mechanics, I need help!

I have an 84 model chevy K10 pickup and the drivers side CV joint is destroyed. I was checking the truck out to get ready for Windrock mountain on Saturday when I noticed the left side CV joint was kinda laying in the caps, basically all the bearings were gone and it was flopping around. How hard is it to pull the axle to get to the CV joint and what all do I have to do? I've never messed around with 4 wheel drives much so any advise would be appreciated, thanks

BTW, anyone ever been to Windrock mountain? It's an awesome place to ride 4-wheelers or trucks, over 700 acres of mountainside to ride on

Drivers side CV joint? I assume you are referring to the U Joint for the stub shaft. If you have knowledge and some decent tools its not too bad of a job. Takes about four hours. Might as well replace the wheel bearings while you have the knuckle torn apart. Do a search on www.ck5.com and also check out http://nashvillek5.freeservers.com/balljoints.htm for a primer on how to tear down the knuckle although you wont be going as far as to remove it completely.

been in Indianapolis the past couple months working, finally made it back to Tennessee but will be leaving for South Carolina in April. Man I've been so busy with work that I forget what month it is! Trying to make that travel pay money!

Thanks for the help! I've got the spindle broken loose and should be able to pull the axle out soon, been working on it all morning
