2011 GT is giving me nightmares
so that didn't take long did it. The 2011 GT has been on sale less than a month and they are already running 10's.... cheaply....
The boys at Evolution Performance nailed a 10.88 @ 126.66 run using just 3.73 gears, a prototype cold air intake, Eaton Trutrac differential, D.O.T. approved racing tires and a 100 shot of nitrous.
not sure how much an air intake is worth in that run but basically grip, gear, n2o and instant 10's.
Think of what those cost... then think what it costs to get an LS1 running 10's.
Looks like we'll be seeing a lot of DD 9 second stangs soon. Granted they won't run 9's on the street.... they'd need their grippy track tires... but still...
Remember this was a GT... not a GT500.

And a full suspension kit.
Not saying to underestimate them...or that they aren't tearing it up.
Just that it isn't JUST tires, nitrous, and a couple bolt ons.

This is a touchy subject here as it should be (Lots of F-Body/GM fans).
I on the other hand love fast cars. I have a Sterling Grey 3.73 M6 GT on order :-)

evidence of suspension mods? I checked out their dyno screen shot... looks like the car has a tune, xpipe and catback to go with the CAI. But i see no mention of suspension mods.

I think it is great personally.
But I am 99.9% sure they have suspension parts under that car.
This is what JPC did to get 10's. They were the first in the 10's by the way.
4.56 gears
31 spline axles
Spool
This is a rear we had laying around done. That's the only reason a spool was used. And yes you can drive a spool on the street. Did it for years. It's the only way to do it.
Bassani X. Welded it in to stock pipes ( USING STOCK CONVERTERS )
Bassani Mufflers
Bogart Racing Wheels Front and Rear
28x10 slicks ( I know guys are spoiled now adays with their drag radials and all, I remember when I started back in the early 90's I drove to the track with my slicks in the back with the jack and bolted them on.
Kirkey Driver seat with Manaul stock Bracket.
Nitrous size not sure. Made 60rwhp on dyno wet kit ( I checked with Justin, he said the Jet Ratings called for 100hp )
Adjustable Stock Replacement Struts Eibach
Eibach Drag Launch Kit ( no air in bag )
Adjustable Rear Shock
Adjustable Urethane Panhard Rod
Metco Adjustable Upper w/ 05-09 Mount
Metco Lowers w/ ICM Brackets
STOCK Driveshaft / STOCK Computer no custom tuning
STOCK AIR FILTER LOL
Driver Mod

The F-bodies have a larger aftermarket for going fast. This new 5.0 is gonna have to play catch up with us to beat us IMO.

I look at it this way...the LSx has been around since, what...1998? The market for larger flowing intakes and heads is pretty large. Blocks have evolved as well. And fast forward to the gen-5 and the aftermarket was out like a year before the gen-5s were even in assemby lines. I think the Mustang was not only aimed at the gen-5, but the aftermarket-equipped gen-5...like the Hennessy, Saleen, Nickey, and I think there was a writeup in an old issue of GMHTP about Yenko, Baldwin Motion coming out of retirement and getting their hands on some gen-5s as well. Ford also has to deal with the SRT-equipped Mopars out there as well.

I forgot about another LSx shop that's building some evil gen-5s. Unrestricted Motorsports. They have a NASTY gen-5 with some nice goodies. And I also just remembered the GM loyal demograph with money to spend.
