Opinions? I really like the first gen Viper GTS coupes,one of the most striking bodies I have ever seen,the second gen verts were beautiful as well.sad to seen it die.

Low production numbers would be why you dont see all that many. Several years only saw a few to several hundred made. iirc the largest production year was around 3k while most averaged 1-2k not sure how many 2010 models were built.

That's too bad, I had no idea they were going out of production. The current coupe I believe is neck and neck with the ZR1. They have always been awesome cars for sure.

Fiat has shown interest in bringing it back once they have the company sorted out and making a profit again but I would suspect if they do it will have a more european flavor to it.

no.... it's not dead. it's going on vacation and will be back with an all new model in 2012.

So sayeth the Chrysler overlords at fiat. Rumors suggest that the 8.4 V10 will soldier on in the new chassis and that a lower end higher volume model possible powered by a ferrari V8 will also be announced.

The reason they needed the break is thanks to Daimler stealing the "next" viper and calling it the SLS AMG.... look closely... see the viper DNA in there? no coincidence that SLS prototypes wore viper body panels.

Sadly current rumors suggest the new chassis may come from the alfa 8c competizione which itself is just an old maserati chassis.

Hopefully that rumor is false.

What he said.... The viper will return in 12' but it probably wont be the down and dirty kick ass muscle car it is now. I hope it isnt the case though because mainly thats why I liked it over a zr1 or z06 it looks like its comin to kick ass and theres no traction control or nannies to keep you from driving the car. If the above said does happen the viper as we know it will die in a sense...
