Get it if you want to keep it forever. Resale is crap.

    Expect 10-12mpg driven conservatively.

They used to be a status symbol. Now they are a symbol of a different kind of status.

If you like it, get it for you and don't worry what others think. Just be aware they are really frowned upon nowadays, not so much for abysmal mpg, but because everybody now realizes it's really a Suburban.

When I dated a girl who had one, I liked the space and the turning radius the most. The only con i noticed was the tiny windows.

Oh, and if you get one, hummer in a hummer!

I just gave a guy a 6800 dollar estimate for needed repairs and maintenance on his. Fairly certain he's dumping it. Only has 93K I think. I'd rather have a Tahoe

My mother has a 2003 h2. Maintenance is crazy high and gas is 8-10 unless ur highway which is about 12-18 maybe. Its basically a 2500 truck frame with the hummer body. but all in all. Its ok.. Id save and get an h1 diesel. Alot more but resale value is high and quality is way better

    2008 Hummer H3

Buy an H3, far better resale value, more ground clearance and better off road capability, tougher, 4:1 low range and lockers..

There are 5.3l V8 Alfa H3 and H3T models, as well as a DOHC VVT 3700 i5 engine option.

Active stability on newer H3's, traction control, full time 4wd, and 5-star crash rating just to name a few perks..

    Turns tighter than an F-body.

Onstar and Xm radio also availiable..

If fuel eco is something you care about, the H3 with either the 5.3 v8, or the 3700 get far better MPG's than any H2.

IMO,,Steer clear of the smaller under powered 3500 i5..

The 08 i5 has the highest HP rating (~242 or so) of them all later i5's were down graded from the 08's 3700 numbers by ~10-20 hp..

The 5.3L v8 is rated over 300 hp..

That included aftermarket parts. Not sure hoqw much was labor. Those 8 lug hubs aren't cheap

If you want a HD truck with a shorter wheelbase, consider an Avalanche 2500. I like mine for the most part. Gas mileage is 10-11 depending on how hot/cold it is. The big block seems to love the cold air. The bed is a decent enough length to actually carry something and the interior is very comfy. Visibility is head and shoulders above that of any Hummer product.

As typical with any of the GM HD trucks, though, get ready to swap out front hub/bearing unit assemblies pretty regularly (I get about 40-50k per set).

    GTP231 isn't kidding, they aren't cheap.

And the oil cooler lines WILL leak. Mine are still leaking. I just dump a quart of oil into it every 1,000 miles or so. The parts aren't too expensive but the labor for that swap is. I've got other things cooking I need to finish first.
