    10 tips

For those who goes to the drag strip for the first time!!

    http://www.lsxtv.com/tech-stories/ot...the-dragstrip/

There’s no easier way to get out of the stands and onto the track than drag racing. Nobody’s born knowing how to drag race though, and everybody was a newbie once. Going to the track for the first time can be intimidating – nobody wants to look like they don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of what’s going on is mysterious to the uninitiated. It doesn’t have to be that way, though. You don’t need a specially prepared race car or a bunch of training, but there are a few simple things you can do to make sure your first time is a good experience. Since we’re always interested in getting new people out on the dragstrip (as we rarely are good enough to beat anyone else but a first-timer, to be honest!) here are our Top Ten Tips for your first trip to the dragstrip.

That and I've been running cars at the track since I got my drivers license in 70. My cousin had a new 69 350 Camaro RS/SS at the time. After 500 mile breakin period we became track rats.

Stock the car ran low 15's. By the time we got through with it it was running high 12's. That's what got me into Camaro's and learning how to wrench.

    Very cool!

We went to the annual Beaver Springs awards banquet last night as "guests of honor". The track owner is just tickled that we bought a house simply to be close to his track. One of the gentlemen that was seated at our table was there for the track's opening day... in 1971. He was a real interesting character and still runs a supercharged Mustang from time to time. Looking forward to seeing him this summer and talking with him some more.

I hate people that don't pull off when they blow something. Or the guys that come with leaking oil or radiator fluid and fight with the techs about it.

Very good tips. I went to the track for months before racing on it. I didn't wanna be the guy to fuck it up for the rest of them.

Thing that burns me most are the guys that know better yet don't pull around the water box and back up into it. Or the dousch with mama's 17 second Nissan that has to do the smokiest 1 front wheel burnout and then drags a gallon of water with him up to the line.

I did that once and the track official yelled at me for wasting time...told me to just pull through like everyone else.

Sucks for your track (and your traction) then. BTW, which track do you run at? I've never had a problem doing as I posted (driving around and then backing up) at either Firebird or SpeedWorld here in PHX.

AAMOF, I've been doing that forever with nary a bad comment...

This and theres no way to pull around the water box..... i dont fucking need it with street tires. Another thing that ticks me off is that wont let you deep and shallow stage the car at all and yell at you if you try to do it. Fucking bull shit.

BTW someone spends a lot of time on lsxtv.....

    Capitol Raceway...closest track to me.

Cecil, MIR, 75/80, and Mason-Dixon are "close" but at least an hour drive for each of them.
