Exclamation 07 zo6 at my work, blown engine

i'm gonna get some pics once we drop the engine out, but it only had 10k miles and just above the starter there is 2 holes in the block with piston material hanging out, on the left side of the engine there is a big bulge on the block with cracks in it. its fucked royally. like i said i'll get some pics once the engine is on the stand. gm is gonna shit when they gotta by a new ls7 and pay 15 hours worth of labor

i dont know, all the codes that are stored all happened at 0rpm. i think we are gonna pull the module parameters in the pcm to see if he had a modified tune running thru it and bumped the rev limiter.

If the rev limiter was raised, it must have been raised TOO HIGH.

Well, according to the OP, motor is under warranty. Could you guys imagine if GM denied the warranty? O...M...G!!! Talk about "pucker time."

it sucks yes. also since gm is trying to cutback on bs stuff to save money. they arent paying for coolant anymore when engine work is done, they make us catch and reuse amongst other things. then they gotta pay for warranty work like this?? hope we find something so the customer has to pay

gm doesn't need to pay for it unless it was truly a manufacturer error, then hell yeah they should eat it

my money is on mechanical overrev via blown downshift vs regular overrev. I mean how fuckin hard do you have to rev that car to do that. It redlines at 7k as it is. I feel for the tech thats gonna get ass raped on the r and r for it to be honest.

like i said the guy probably was trying to impress his buddy and fucked up a downshift. I love workin on cars and i love that car, but shit like what you are talking about is exactly why I wont miss the business. I'd bet money on it the owner is a total prick right? Anybody who was never a mechanic doesnt understand why I'm so cynical

Just food for thought though, didnt gm have problems with the oiling in the ls7? or machining issues. I think I vaguely remember hearing about them blowing up at least once or twice unrelated to modification. I think theres a video of one dropping a valve on the dyno too.

i hear ya! i have heard of them dropping a valve before. they have pretty thin cylinder walls to begin with. havent met the dude or talked to the service writer about him, it was a night drop off. also has florida plates. good thing i am a transmission guy not the heavy line fella. maybe the cracka is on here???

Do you get a kickback if you ferret out some plausible theory?

With a statement like that, you sound like the prick that claimed abuse when a trans blew while towing 7500 lbs of trailer and car with a 2500HD/8.1/Alli.

No real evidence of abuse could be shown. "For the Allison to lunch itself, you HAD to be doing something wrong." Denied

    I now have a PSD ...

GM might be trying to save money and "getting tough" on warranty claims. But by categorically denying warranty service, there is the appearance of the lack of customer service.

And when a tech logs onto the net and makes bold statements like you have reinforces that lack of customer service.

Might make the owners and GMs happy today, but when GM goes belly-up, you think they will feed you and your family?
