06 June 1944
in the hours before dawn 24,000 men landed in nazi occupied france.
as dawn broke over 160,000 men gathered on ships and landing craft in the english channel supported by over 195,000 naval personnel.
as the battle concluded 10,000 men (6,600 Americans) had been killed in action to ensure that freedom would be enjoyed by all peoples everywhere.
my father was one among those 24,000 paratroopers in the pre-dawn hours.
get your flag out of the closet and on the front of your house to honor all of those lost and all of those who survived.

Very important day in history for not only the U.S.but the world,if the nazi's would have held the beach and took Britian, who knows how the present day world would be.

it's sad my friends when only a handful view and even fewer formally recognize the gallant acts of this day. truly...and unfortunately...as the greatest generation dies and fades away there are fewer and fewer with the understanding or the desire to recognize these events.
