look at the 4th pic down, wouldnt your mpg decrease from essentially runnin 4 flat tires all the time???? and what about tread life?......this idea seems stupid

No.... you're wrong! Where does it say that it doesn't have a sidewall? The Honda Odyssey already uses the Tweel and it HAS a sidewall. My brother works for a large Tire shop and he's already had all the training classes about it.

It isn't used on any production automobiles yet
