black rims

is there a good safe cleaner for my black rims. there is a brown crud stuck on them. i have tried alum. rim cleaner and it leaves a white residue.

I use Mother's all-wheel cleaner. It's safe for painted wheels and the only one that doesn't leave residue that I've found. I always follow up with a quick detailer wipe down though, gives them just a little extra shine.

IMHO black wheels are more of a PITA to keep clean and maintain then a black car.

The stock pads on the 6th gen SS spew brake dust like no other. My wheels are brown within a day or two max... It's finally just about time for a swap, so I'll be getting EBC reds next.

Also, the stock black wheels from GM are painted...the clearcoat began bubbling within a year, and scar up pretty easily... I may eventually have mine powdercoated if I don't just get a new aftermarket set.
