200lb weight loss? So in the neighborhood of 3700 for the SS. Considering my WS6 was 3600, that's not bad at all. Should be at or below the GT in weight, with more power. Looking promising.

Also, 5hp more than the Vette...has the hard ceiling on Camaro power been lifted? That struck me as the most interesting part...first time the Camaro's base V8 has ever had more power than the equivalent generation Vette's base V8 as far as I can remember.

Hate that G'damn steering wheel though. Hated it when it popped up in the Impala and I was really hoping it would stay only with the Impala...looks like it's going to be the new "corporate wheel" though.

The camaro developers have said the corvette is no longer off limits. So wouldn't be surprised to see them start one upping each other.

The flat bottom steering wheel is back because the 5th gen guys got mad when gm took it out and have been demanding it back.

The base 6th gen ss according to gm is faster then a 5th gen 1le and the 1le is faster then a pp gt mustang around the track.

    Gone:2001 Camaro SS #4846

I never cared for the looks of the 5th gen.

I came close to downright disliking it but settled on "meh".

This one looks a lot better, seems better proportioned.

Only limited pics so far but very positive improvements.

Still looks like it might be a bit claustrophobic to peer out of though.

I thought the SS was making 440 horsepower, while the Stingray is making 460... (?)

The corvette is rate at 455 with standard exhaust, 460hp with the 1200 exhaust upgrade.

They finally fixed those ugly ass gauges! Thank god...

I like the fact that its got a HUGE air inlet in the front bumper...seems like it'll be able to breath really really well with a grill that big.

Back to the cramped ass engine department. 5th gen guys are all bitching but the 4th gen guys are like eh we have been dealing with that for years.

I Was The First Person To (Publicly) Crash A 2016 Chevrolet Camaro

Jalopnik employee was the first person to wreck a 6th gen Camaro publicly.

I'm really liking the 6th gen Camaro so far... If they can keep the price down to where regular Joes can afford one, it will be king of the streets, I think.

As much as I disliked the 5th gen, and even thought the 6th looks very similar, I think they made all the right changes and now have a car that is not just good, but potentially great.

Depending on how good the 1LE is, this is a car I might consider buying. In fact, among all cars that are newer than 2005, the Stingray (and now the new Camaro) are the only cars I'd even consider.

    Good job by GM, IMO.

I like it, but from what I am seeing, I don't think I will be buying one.

Still 3,700 lbs for an SS?
20 inch wheels on sub-14 inch rotors?
Six speed manual (albeit revmatching), wheres the Seven speed?
Still looks like limited visibility from the inside.

I'll have to test drive it, but I can't see spending the $35,000.00+ on it. They need some more improvements to have me yell to them "Shut up and take my money."

Damn govt safety regulations are causing cars to gain wait real fast unfortunately. Just saw leaked info on the mustang gt 350 pricing and it's around 48000. If that's true that's not much higher then a 5th gen 1le. Let's hope for some competitive pricing wars to take shape if that price turns out to be true. Only way I'll be buying a new one. Also been seeing alot of vette enthusiasts say that are not fans of the 7 speed. Only time it's useful is highway cruising. Plus the alpha platform has too small of a trans tunnel for the 7 speeds.

Its part safety regulations, but its part bad choices. How much more (unsprung) weight is Chevy adding by using a 20 inch wheel/tire package over an 18 or 19 inch wheels/tire setup, especially with the size rotors they will be using? Only Chevy's bling-master knows. What happened to lighter, composite body panels?

As far as the seven-speed goes. I cant speak to owner satisfaction but I am sure they will be selling more than enough Camaro's to merit recouping ROE for reworking part of the trans tunnel to put it in. The gear spread is also set up to benefit bottom and top gears. I use sixth gear enough in my car, and at highway speed I would love to drop the revs a little more at cruising speed.

True, ture! I've been averse to the trend to make wheels bigger and bigger. I think 18 is as large as is reasonable, honestly... especially since the tire width hasn't really changed much over the years. For crying out loud: the Hellcat uses 275s.

More power and less weight. Keep the option pricing affordable and people will line up for one of these
