    78 z28 LS1 upgrade

I have a 78 z28 and was wondering how hard it is to put an ls in it? I want to stay with a carb if thats possable, and what parts will interchange? (motor mounts, scatter sheild ect.)

Lots of companies are making swap parts for installing LS engines in an older chassis. You can generally find engine mounts, transmission adapters and headers without too much trouble. Your best bet for a swap is too find a complete engine that also includes the wire harness and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If you stay with fuel injection, you will need a supply with 58 psi at the rail so fuel system upgrades are a must. Oil pan clearance can be an issue, you'll want to stick with an F-body oil pan as the Corvette pan has wings on the bottom. Research is the key and ask all the questions you can think of. I would also start by hitting up Amazon.com and searching "LS1 swap" -- there are a couple of good guides in print.

You will definitely appreciate the power of the LS1. I was all "old school" until we purchased our T/A a couple of years ago. These things just plain work.

T/A is just shorthand for "Trans Am".
