1998 firedbird 3.8 to ls1 swap! have a harness question!?
Hey guys finally became part of this and now I have a question. I have a 1998 I have swapped out with a ls1 and everything is done EXCEPT I haven't done the wiring harness. Can anyone tell me who has done the swap , did you just remove the old v6 harness and computer from engine bay and the few plug ins that go in under the glove box then just simply plug in the new ls harness??? or was there more than that??

Do you have the LS harness and ECM?
IIRC you may need to swap out the dash cluster as well. I know you do for 93-97 (LT1) cars.

Same thing that was in your other thread for a ecm look for TunebyFrost.com
He sells ecm's with his tune. Very good one too, I had it till I started mod'ing
I would ask him if you even need a new one. IIRC the ecm and the harness are the same for V6 & V8's. You may need to connect a few extra things but the foundation should be there. Regarding the ecm it's a flash over.
You have a couple of choices for getting a wire harness.
1) Sorta expensive - Painless Performance makes wire harnesses they are a little pricey but top notch.
2) Find one for sell or go junk yard diving. This has a hole bunch of issues. How good is the harness, cuts, breaks, correct one, etc.
I had a buddy do a LT1 to LS1 swap, the harness was his biggest headache. Took him 4x's (meaning pulling it out and fixing it) to work out all the issues. His words - I wish I bought a new harness.
Any reason why you want a 98 harness?
