SLP lid installed! My comments
I received my new SLP lid yesterday and installed it that night onto my '01 WS6. Here are my comments and pictures are to follow in another post:
1) Getting the stock air resonator off the MAF was a royal pain in the ass. I had to use a flathead screw driver, silicon spray lubricant, and a lot of elbow grease to get it off. I also snapped the air resonator a bit taking it off. Maybe I was going about it the wrong way, but taking it off was a fairly straightforward arrangement. Just tough.
2) Getting my new SLP onto the MAF was a bigger bitch! It took a lot of pushing, and eventually a rubber mallet to hammer it on. I don't know how I'll ever get it off again if I need to, but perhaps the engine heating it up will make it "looser." I obviously used a worm clamp to keep it in place just in case this is so.
3) The grommet on the driver's side to hold the AIR tube does not hold the 90Degree elbow tightly. I'm not sure if I should find a tighter grommet or a bigger elbow. I question it's ability to keep it sealed.
4) The fit once everything was hooked up was tight, but perfect. The lid's front lip fits into the INSIDE of the airbox like it's supposed to.
Overall I'm very happy with this purchase, with the exception of that elbow. The performance reward was immediate after rehooking the battery and letting the PCM adjust for 10 minutes and a few revs. Throttle response is indeed better! Power is nice too, but it was before

I bought one three years ago it went on ok and the fit is fine but I was expecting to see some sort of difference in performance but I could not tell even at the track I still ran the same 13.70 @106mph.

Slp Lid
Stock I ran 13.80's at 99.8 MPH. After installing the lid with a K&N~German Castrol Synthetic oil~Magnaflow muffler only~and Z-MAX ,I now run consistant 13.20's at over 105 MPH. 2002 Z/28 convertible A4 with 3.23 gears stock 16" wheels & Hancook Ventius II tires. I would say that was money well spent !

I put an SLP lid on mine a few months ago. It also fit pretty snug around the MAF but it wasn't anything that required brute force. It took a while to line everything up, but once done, everything is good.
I don't notice any real difference in performance, even at the track,,,,but it does make a little more intake noise now that the baffles are gone. Larry.

Thats cool, nice numbers, but here's some advice:
Don't use Z-Max anymore.
The stuff is a joke. I've seen it where consumer activist groups go after companies for having products that don't work as promised, but Z-Max actually has a lawsuit against them from the US government. Meaning they are in a lot of trouble. And the reason is products that don't work as promised.
It happened to Slick 50, now Z-Max. Thats why I stick to Synthetic oil and nothing else.

I bought mine back in nov for my 98 and I didn't have to do anything at all like that. the only problem I have is when I close my hood one of my clips pops off because the hood is pressing down on the lid. and seeing how I didn't ever take my car to the track before I ran with the lid I can't say there was any improvement.
