Hooker Aerochamber muffler
So, I need to replace my somewhat raspy Ravin muffler that I bought from Midas about 4 years ago. This muffler has served nicely until a baffle came loose 4 weeks ago. I have searched some threads and what I have found is people like this Hooker muffler. Since I already have Hooker LT and ORY, seems logical to have a complete Hooker exhaust, with maybe some 3.5 inch Hooker tips later. I have a 3 inch inlet already, and am looking at PN 21729HKR. I realize I will have to cut off the 3 bolt inlet (I think) to weld it to my I pipe/tailpipes, I can do that./
So, any resonating issues at cruise people have with this muffler? My current setup is very loud at wide open throttle, and almost as quiet as stock when I am just cruising. I am looking for a nice deep rumble that makes some noise when I floor it. Thanx!!!!

well, my buddy has a aerochamber on his bronco....thats behind a 351 clevland. it sounds pretty good, but I heard a full hooker setup on a LT1, and man......much left to be desired.
the tone sounds strange, like if it was comin through a stereo, it sounded like they turned the treble down a bunch....kinda muffly.....
I have the magnaflow....man, if you want deep, go nowhere else. jump on youtube or ls1sounds....they got examples

So, now I have one vote for the Magnaflow and one for the Hooker. I guess I should have made this a poll.
I have been to LS1 sounds, and can't really hear much difference between the Magnaflow and Hooker. I think that is because the sound quality is compromised.
Maybe I'll get a sound clip later and let y'all hear what it is like now.
Really wanting a deep, non-raspy sound.

here's a car with the hooker aerochamber http://www.fquick.com/videos/2000_A4...ay_8-1-08/6757
You can try youtube as well some vids are better than others. You can't go wrong with either the magnaflow or hooker, most catbacks are quite cruising and loud at wot, that's why I went duals loud all the time

Yeah that is a good sound clip. Sounds good. Similar to mine now, but mine has always had a little raspiness to it, check out this burn out I did not long ago:

always dirty- 2013 Ram 2014 Caddy ATS
I had a hooker on my third gen. It sounded good, deep and raspy. There was very little resonating at highway speeds.

I'm selling my Hooker Aerochamber at the moment, I love the sound of it, but I want True Duals as support for later mods...I'll be in Muncie, Indiana for Thanksgiving, and I'll be able to bring it out to you.
Here, check out the thread in the For Sale section:
http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98157
I'll sell you the exhaust (no ORY) for $450 and I'll even bring it across a few states for you

^^^Thanks! From research I've done, seems like the Hooker has one of the best CFM ratings also.

sure- here is the back side I was cheap and went under the axle
pic of my magnaflows
passenger side pic

This was a used custom fab I bought, you can have an exhaust shop fab one up for you or go to texas speed, or just buy an x pipe and have the shop do the rest. It tucks pretty well just have to be careful on the bigger speed bumps a.k.a-just go slow and you'll be fine. The exhaust is 3'' then 2.5'' under the axle. Also that vid was before I had the exhaust finished out the back, in that vid the exhaust ended at the mufflers- no turn downs and was considerably louder. good luck-
found this setup on ls1tech.com- http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1007643Last edited by c5z28; 10-24-2008 at 06:51 PM.
