    Vortech blew my pistons... twice

So I bought a Vortech centrifugal supercharger for my stock (besides headers and exhaust) 98 trans am with 62000 miles.
Got it dyno tuned with 405 to the tires at 5psi.
Long story short I blew 3 pistons.
So I put 3 stock pistons back in it and about a month later they blew again.

Should I put new forged pistons and hardened pushrods back in it?
Should I put in heads and/or a boost cam back in it while i have it apart?
Any other supporting mods I should maybe get so this doesnt happen again?
    What would you guys do?

    Would greatly appreciate any help.

It may have been a fluke. I run a Vortech Gtrim V-9 with aftercooler at a full 10 LBS for the last 3 years no problems what so ever.

Since you are going to have it apart (and considering your budget) go forged.

sounds like it could easily be in the tuning... what was the AFR at WOT on the street?

I agree! Do as much as you can while you have it torn down..

The AFRs were 11.7-11.9 all across the board.
It wasn't like a professional shop that did it though, you think this time after the pistons break in I should try takin it to a shop?
I usually take it to Ed Wright, but he's a dick so I haven't been to his place in a while.

I never really thought about the afrs being an issue because the guy said they were pretty good.

get it tuned!! If the AFR was 11.9 on an unloaded DJ, it would very likely be leaner than that on the street. The timing could be too high as well, or the IAT table not properly mapped to deal with rising IATs.

i was thinking that once he got onto the street that he would run too lean.

    Dude, seriously get a tune...

Saying your blower kills pistons is kinda like saying guns kill people

do you have any pics of the pistons what went on them- rings, detonation?

Sounds more like the tune than anything.
