turbo newbie. Stupid questions
I've been looking at getting into a turbo set up. I am looking for low budget reliable. (if there is such a thing.) I mainly just want the car to have a little more pep when driving. I'm thinking 400 at the wheels would be great. I want to run low boost and If I can get away without forging all my internals etc.
Im not looking for a strip car, and Im not trying to set records. Just want to have a little more fun and get up n go while driving.
Has anyone on here ever put together a turbo kit on a bone stock ls1? Wondering how it ran HP wise?
What kind of power can a stock transmission handle?
By all estimates I am guessing a basic turbo build is going to run at least $5000 installed/ tuned etc.

GMHTP has some great budget turbo builds. There was a truck with a homebuilt turbo setup that was just plain neat. I couldn't find that one - but here is something similar: Inexpensive Turbo Block - Staying Alive! - GM High-Tech Performance Magazine
