Those with a Vortech V-9

I have a 2000 T/A with a Vortech V-9 Gtrim. Finally getting around to changing out my fuel filter..

Problem --- I am able to pull off the nut ( going to fuel rail ) but......seems Vortech put some type of supplied fuel adaptor on the line that is coming from the tank. My problem is I cannot squeeze the small tabs that our filters come with ( cannot even see them ! ).

How have you guys with this set up end up changing your fuel filter?
