thinking about picking one of these up, my friend recommends the procharger but i want something different and i was leaning on the mti superchager, let me know what you recommend thanks.

MTI is a roots style blower. 2 issues. First is heat soak and second is having to hack up the underside of your hood depending on what kind of car you have. They do make a ton of torque down low compared to a centrif. blower. I personally would love to have one if it would fit better under my WS6 hood and they had more top end power.

Dragon Race Engineering http://www.dragonrace.com/ now makes a 3.3 Whipple that fits under the cowl without a customor dropped K-member. Personally, I love the sound of these things but the Procharger is way more dependable are more upgradeable.

I would go with a roots no doubt. After driving a Termi and seeing a roots performs, ESPECIALLY down low, I wouldn't go with anything else. I didn't know about the 3.3 whipple, but thats what I'ma go with now for SURE. The MP112 is just a little to small to be honest, which was the only thing keeping me from going with it.

Curious why it would be more dependable.

I would have thought that the front-mounted blowers, with all the bracketry, and with or without intercooler plumbing, and associated oil lines or failures caused by isolated and non-isolated oil supplies, just represent more challenges.

The roots style with it's centralized mountings etc., just seem like less engineering is necessary to make it reliable -more elegant.

If you are speaking from experience -please explain.

Roots requires cutting the cowl or K-member spacers (or both) to fit on a 4th-gen f-body. If there really is a 3.3 Whipple that will clear the cowl, that would be really sweet and different, but the centrifugal superchargers (Procharger, Vortech, Paxton Novi) are the way to go for the easiest installation and the least amount of custom work.

There is indeed a company out their that doesn't require cutting the cowl, just moving the K-member and putting it back....no spacers. You do have to pin the crank but I think Procharger requires that too.

That sounds like an incredibly good excuse to throw on a tubular K-member while your at it

im on the whipple side at the moment do u think they have to go through the firewall in they install that supercharger?

it's the charger from Dragon that came out recently. They claim 250hp increase, but it's not cheap. I've been flipping between Procharger and Vortech, now this to consider.

IMO Procharger kit is way easier than the Vortech kit.

I was sold on the Procharger, but now with the V-3 self contained head unit = no tapping of the oil pan and it's interchangeable with the high mount G trim. Plus I can still utilize my ram air hood.

Wow! I haven't paid attention to Vortech's lately. I didn't know that they had a self contained head unit. Cool!
