supercharger on stock internals??
Im looking at buying a gto with an ls1 motor in it, but its supercharged with stock internals... it made 474 rwhp and 514 rwtq. my question is, with stock internals is that safe? i know the block can handle the power but im not so sure about the internals.. thanks guys

Yeah, it will be fine with those numbers. A lot of people feel uncomfortable going over 500 or 550 at the wheels with stock internals, but mainly it depends on the tune.
To be safe, though, I would upgrade internals if you're going over 550 - 600 RWHP.

I believe the GTO's had the LS2 based motors....should be good to go with that HP....but, like someone said, I wouldn't expect it to last 200K.....and make sure they tuned the thing good.

the 04 gtos had the ls1 motor.. 05 and 06 are ls2. and ya im aware of the tuning... its got a pretty conservative tune on it right now. thanks guys

For stock internals you should keep the boost around 8 lbs. An LS1 will handle that pretty well.

I was wondering what blk-ws6 is running - I know from personal experiance that 8 is safe 12 is not safe.

Live and learn - Just did not want anyone else to doubt that 8 is the limit

Wow, sounds like a killer motor. Love the heads....but that cam is huge! Lift and duration are steep.....I hope you have good springs and seat pressure for those.
I know things can get rough when building a motor. Best of luck to you and hopefully all goes well in the end.

I thought the same thing on the cam,but he was aware of the 95% street driven. You can only trust people with the information you give them - I guess -

During my build I didn't know what cam to go with so I did some research. Not alot of posts from supercharged guys. I came across lingenfelters website and looked at their blower cam. It wasn't much more than a Z06 spec cam. I talked to them about it and they basically told me that with FI, you don't need the big lift and stuff like a n/a motor. Plus with me being in Cali.....I know a 224/224 sized cam is about max to go with and still pass emissions. So with all that considered, I went with the lingenfelter gt7 blower cam. The lift is only like 525 or something.....very mild and easy on the heads. Oh, I have gm cast 317 ported and polished heads. Don't flow as well as AFR but not too far behind.

you would be correct ,I have the stock ls2 in my 05 running 12 psi car ran 133mph in 1/4,before you guys say any thing,i realize not everyone has the same info, access and or can fab things or has easy access to a great tuner. stock cam also, been running it that way for past 2 years, most pople run 7-8 psi.the ls2 has 11to1 compression stock the ls1 has 10.5to 1 so why cant you run more boost?then again most guys would be happy with 6-8 psi.bottom line get a tune by someone who knows whats up the ls motors love boost with fi 11s are easily obatained on stock internals.
mods: custom built twins, built 408 w/l92 stock GM heads,GM matching intake, drag bags, frame ties, aluminum drive shaft, performabuilt 4l80e,Yank converter, ohios fastest and quickest 04-06 GTO 9.52 at 144mph. 1.50 60ft on stock rear end and shafts/suspension,on drag radials.

I can tell you in my hands on experience you can safely run 525-600 rwhp on stock short blocks for an extended time frame. . . . . . . . As in years.
You'll be fine the key is to have a GOOD TUNER as priorly stated. Most have to much timing/too hot of a plug. By the time they realize it's too late. It takes alot more than a wide-band and a dyno to be a "GOOD TUNER".Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!
