Super Charger Question
are there any inexpensive superchargers out for the ls1's that add not too huge horse power gains? such as the ones found on the 03-04 cobras i think the 01-02 cobras had 320 horsepower and the new superchargers gavem like 70 horse power gains in the 03-04 models

If you can find a roots type supercharger, which arent exactly the easiest to find for our cars :-/, those are the cheapest and you dont get HUGE gains out of them running around 4-9 psi thru them.

You get what you pay for. Don't even think about getting a Powedyne.

True, True! I'll give you that! I would love a D1SC but money right now just aint gonna let it happen. Also good advice. Don't buy a cheap supercharger just to have one and then want a better one a year later. Just wait and get the right one even if it is a little later down the road.

They don't last very long and if you want to make alot of power. it won't do it.
I had one on my other Camaro and it seized up on me.

You can find used kits for around 3 grand. I bought my kit over 3 years ago for $3200 and it came with fuel injectors, fuel pump, and all of the appropriate gauges too! Mine is a P-1sc though. The kit came with everything needed! It even had two different blower pullies. Look around the for sale columns on here and LS1 Tech.

I have a powerdyne on a 95 FIREHAWK with 157000miles on it. Had it rebuilt 2times for bearings and belt. Once was because I changed the pully to get 9lbs out of it. It did not like that.

I would've expected a centrifugal kit to be cheaper. Roots blowers will require a whole new intake. The ones for Vette's are built right onto an intake plate with the intercooler underneath. Not exactly cheap.
A roots would be a pain to install too with the engine under the cowl. A centrifugal would probably install easier.
I'd vote for a lower boost option with a Snow mentanol injection kit. Since meth would be the intercool no worries mounting a rad/heat exchanger so less piping. It would still make great power.
On the Cobra's, the '03/'04 is rated at 390hp, but like many cars rated from the factory they make alot more than that. My Marauder has the same Eaton blower, 32V engine, and 8.5psi boost and makes about 460hp. The Cobra also comes with a factory forged motor, and as a result can handle some more boost than the '01/'02 32v motors. People can make some serious reliable power on the '03/'04 forged motors without having to build them up.
Roots are great for low end torque, and the power is very linear on them. That's why I got one for my Marauder, it's a full size car, 4200lbs, and the 4.6l 32v motor isn't a huge V8 so it needed the low end grunt.
For an F-body I'd definitely go for a centrifugal setup.
