Silver- 1998 Trans Am
Need help
Sorry if this is an amatuer question, but i have a stock 98 trans am, and i want to put a Super charger, or turbo in it.....can i have it installed with my stock car or do i need to do mods b4 i can install it to make it work to its best ability?..its an A4 with a new ls1 engine with only about 2,500 miles on the engine and 85,000 on the body....thanks!

It all depends on what your goals are... Usually you have to at least add a few supporting mods to handle the power or make better use of it. Let know more about what kind of power level you want to attain.

With a bone stock A4 you would probably need 8 psi from some sort S/C or Turbo set-up, some bigger injectors (42 lbs.), fuel pump, long tube headers with ORY, and cat-back exhaust. Of course you would have to have your car tuned along with all of these modifications. I think that you could attain that power level easily though with those mods.

I ran a P1SC-1 on my completely stock LS1 for about two years on the same belt with no problems. The only change was to 38lb injectors, long tube headers, high flow cats and a good conservative 7lb boost tune. With a 3:42 rear end and Yank 2800 stall it dynod at 454/413. During those two years I used it as a daily driver and competed regularly on three drag strips and participated in 'Track Days' on two road courses and one NASCAR track. That was the old version of the P1SC with the small dual intercoolers. The new ones are much larger and much improved which many now feel are even better than a FMIC (front mount intercooler) because they don't block off air flow to the radiator which helps to avoid overheating problems.

If you run a supercharger with 6PSI or over you will need a intercooler or else you can say goodbye bottom end.
