    LQ4 turbo build

Throwing some parts together and needing some ideas.
This is going to be a stock LQ4 build, using ARP mains, rods, and head bolts/studs... 315 heads, ls6 intake, truck manifold turbo build... I need help picking a cam. Thinking an ls6 cam would be good for now, what you guys think?

Hoping to start buying parts in the next couple weeks, and turbo will be first on the list.

    Thanks

    Thanks

the lift on that cam is pretty big wouldnt i have to fly cut the pistons for it?

I know no FI build will be cheap but im doing a budget build on this... doing everything my self... that cam is kinda high in price for my ideas(i know tho it would probably be great tho)

I'm not sure on fly-cutting, but I don't recall ever reading about people needing to on a stock LQ4 that have used it. I've just read nothing but positive reviews on it with everyone running blowers/turbos and that is why I mentioned it. I'm strongly considering it when I go into my motor when I up my current boost level.

I know that on a LS1 with 241/317 heads there is clearance. Maybe call Bob at Brute Speed and ask the question. Like I said, a quick search on Google didn't say anything about needing to do that on the LQ4 either.

I would guess though that if they needed to be, the cost would be around $250. It was around $200 a few years ago.

I looked on the site and it said there was no need to on the engines they used or something like that

I really haven't did much research on blower cams yet as I'm probably a few years away still from wanting to increase my set-up. I just know that EVERYONE seems to rant and rave about that cam and it's performance on here and other forums.

Keep us posted on what direction you end up taking. Looking forward to seeing this come together for you.

FI is definitely a fun route to go

I'll be getting the turbo in two weeks and hopefully some tubing so I can fab up the hotside.

Any more info or recommendations would be great from any/everybody :-)

Hey do you know if PAC Racing 1218 springs will work with the Brute Speed Forced Induction cam(EPP Blower Cam)?

I've seen Patriot Gold (8401) 650 lift springs used before. Not sure on the PAC Racing 1218 springs.

ya I'm looking at the Patriot dual springs now. $250 and they come with retainers, seals, and locks... same ones your talking about!

And im pretty positive im going to go with that EPP blower cam... probably going to be buying it after my paycheck on 3/16/12... cam and 7.4 pushrods... i ordered a set of "Sealed Power Premium Piston Rings" standard size they are Moly rings PN: E-921K... you think these will be fine?

Ill also be ordering Mains and Rod bearings "Sealed Power Race Performance Bearings" Main PN:152M, Rod PN: 8-7100CH anything bad with these choices?

Im hoping to have the LQ4 back together between this and next month with ARP Rod bolts, LS9 Head gaskets, OEM Felpro every other gaskets, EPP blower cam, hardened pushrods, LS7 Lifters, Patriot springs, new OEM head bolts, LS2 Timing chanin, Ported LS6 oil pump, and some small things here and there...

    Thanks
