How loud is a procharger
Hi all
I am thinking of buying a blower and have been looking at a Procharger P-1SC-1 or D-1SC-1
I have never seen one in real life but i have seen a Vortech V2 SQ.
The Vortech seemed quiet. People have reported that the Prochargers are nosier.
So the question i have is how much nosier are they?
Is one model more quiet then the other?
I am more worried about the idle noise then anything else.
Can you hear it inside the car when driving on light throttle
Thanks for any advise in advance
cheers

I got my D1 installed last weekend and it sounds great. At idle it's very noticeable. While cruising down the highway in 6th gear it's not too loud. When I get on it then it is noticeable but I haven't gotten it tuned yet so I haven't wound it up yet I can tell you it sounds great! I've been told that some prochargers are louder than others even if they are the some model. Some of the blowers have more gear noise than others. I was told this by the guy I bought the blower kit from, he is the guy that is going to dyno tune my car and he installs a lot of these so I consider him pretty knowledgeable. But as a whole I love the way it sounds.

The D1 is generally louder than the P1 at idle. You can't really hear it off idle

I have been told that the D-1 with the 8 rib belt pulley will not fit on a standard GTO harmonic balancer.
If the kit does not come with the balancer
does anyone know the name and part number for a good balancer for this kit?
thanks

I went with the 8 rib pulley system and used the ATI Super Damper. I also went with the larger intercoolers. I used these upgrades because it was cheaper now than later. I used these because I plan to build a 408 and would like to blow it as well. To answer your question I would look to ATI use their damper and get the 8 rib system in case you ever decide to use more boost.

What exactly are you worried about? People noticing or just the sound itself?
Anymore I seldom listen to the radio, I'm more content listening to the sound of my blower/exhaust.

I am only concerned about the sound on idle.
It's just where i live , I sometimes have to start the car up at 5am and sometimes get home at 12 am .
i park the car in the drive way and all the houses are close together.
You can hear a pin drop at night in my street
that's all
cheers
