    A4- supercharger or turbo?

because my car is an automatic would it make more sense to get a supercharger over a turbo due to the fact it doesn't usually reach higher rpms?

Here is my dilemma... I have a 99 trans am. My family has owned the car since it was brand new. It is in amazing shape although it does have 83 thousand miles on it. I have about 3 grand saved up so far towards some kind of work. So far its completely stock except for SLP cat back exhaust.

Here are my two ideas... I was thinking about swaping the A4 for an M6 (mainly cause it would be fun to drive... I'm not really concerned with track times) but is that really worth the money?...
or my other idea is to keep it automatic and invest in a turbo kit or supercharger, then save more money to have it installed.

    Any thoughts?

Either would work for you. Auto's do well with SC or turbos. 3 grand isn't enough for a SC or Turbo kit though. The STS Turbo kit which is designed for mainly daily driven type cars is around $3995. Then SC kits start at aroun $4000 and go up from there. Then you have to think about installation prices if you can't do it yourself and tuning in some cases. Trust me there are a lot of hidden costs associated with forced induction too. Everyone here will tell you that I am sure. You may be able to find a used kit for around 3K though. That is how I bought mine. It came with everything that I needed like injectors, fuel pump, and gauges too. I got lucky! Good luck and feel free to ask more questions if you have them.

Some of the extra costs of my STS system included:
    Fuel injectors
    Fuel pump
    Adjustable fuel regulator
New plugs (had to be regapped any way)
    Gauges (an absolute requirement)
    Tune (not cheap)
    Upgraded turbo
    Boost switch
TransGo shift kit (again, a requirement)
    Transmission fluid cooler
    Installation costs

Was it worth it? That's up to you, I have few regrets.

Dead on bro! Get a torque converter and some DR's and that will knock down 1/2 a second on your 1/4 mile....trust me. I have friends who smoke 6 speed cars all day long w/ converter and DR's.

Tranny temperature isn't a bad gauge to have either if you have an auto.

You guys are forgetting one thing......S/C's will peak out on air while a turbo never stops breathing..........go turbo....forget about the lag...it's not there if you do it right.....

It is your choice, boost is a must. Since I am running an A4, I went with trans temp. I also got an exhaust gas temp gauge to tell if I am running too lean.

3grand... if your car is stock, i can think of several different ways to spend 3 grand lol... converter, gears, headers, exhaust, free mods, intake, pulleys, suspension, drag radials, cam... would prolly cost you about 3-4grand for all that and I think the gains would be better in the long run... because you can still turbo or SC it on top of all that.
