Very true use a 150 grain bullet loaded with 48 grains of IMR 4895 powder. You can also buy a adjustable gas screw for around $35.

There really are only two ways active military or retiree or club membership. List of clubs that CMP affiliations per state http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/clubSearch.cgi. Then proof of Us citizenship and age, club affiliation, and proof of marksmanship participation (CCL works). DS/DS Vet myself so my DD214 got me past alot of the requirments (aka military).

You can also purchase one that way (private sale). We have a local gun forum that has a classified section like here. Just about every type of gun has been in the for sale classified section.

Very true. He was asking or so I thought how to get a CMP M1. You can find them at gun shows, personal sales etc... But if you want to buy directly from CMP there is a process..

plus the price for M1's at gun shops/shows is usually at least double what CMP sells their service grade rifles
