    Thumbs up PA gun owners...

it IS legal to open carry in most parts of PA...

In Pennsylvania, persons 18 years of age and older whom are not prohibited by law from owning firearms may openly carry a handgun in plain sight with no license except in vehicles*, cities of the first class** (Philadelphia) and where prohibited specifically by statute.

just to let you all know!!!

    spaz,

yes it is legal to open carry in PA. I would HIGHLY reccomend not open carrying. If you don't have a permit, you can open carry it. But, when you get into your car, you must empty it and put it in your trunk, seperate from the ammo.

you may not open carry in Philly.

    hope it helps,
    Jeff

That is sort of reading between the lines -- Section 6106 of the Pennsylvania Uniform Firearms Act makes it a crime to carry a firearm "concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license. . . ." An offense can be graded as a Misdemeanor 1 or Felony 3. One of the enumerated exceptions to this provision is going to and from target shooting, by way of an example. Interestingly, the Act does not define "concealed".

hmm... that leaves a lot of room for error/lack of better judgement on both sides...
