right click on the desktop and look at toolbars or check power options in the control panel

    Go into control Panel.

    Power Options Properties

    Advanced

Check: Always show icon on task bar

If it's already checked, then, uncheck it. Apply and OK. Go back in and recheck it. Apply and OK and it should show up

Hmm, that is strange. I have an older Toshiba running XP and my meter goes MIA every now and then too. But, that always brings it back for me. Heh, I did it just this morning to be sure while checking on the steps to show you because it was gone again.

I have no idea why it disappears though. But, it's back now.
