Pop ups, Spy ware, My CPU is INFECTED! HELP!!!
Alright, I have my pop up blocker set to high. My Norton is on full time, and I CONSTANTLY am fighting pop ups. Its gotten so bad now, on every car website I go to.... certain words are high lighted with a link. Like is a post was made like this...
I found this new job today, its great. My employer is so nice and pay awesome. The benefits are great, my health insurance covers both myself and my nagging women.
The words..... JOB... EMPLOYER..... BENEFITS..... HEALTH INSURANCE ......
would all be high lighted. I have done full system scans through Norton. How can I find and destroy this bullshit that has infected my computer? I surf the normal porn, and I get infected with this CTD. Bull shit.
Please help guide me to find this stuff.

I've been running Avast! free antivirus ect. Nothing has ever gotten through. Norton is crap. http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html I got it before I heard her talk about it but Kim Kommando highly recommends it. I have several friends that use it also and they all love it.

This sounds like the best deal...
In the meantime run all your scans in "safe mode" by pressing the F8 key when the system boots. You can also go here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/ and run the free version (also in safe mode).
If you do end up un-installing Norton use the symantec un-installer after you uninstall the program from your install/un-install interface as Norton usually fails to clean up after itself when it is removed.
There are often many different programs used when de-infesting a computer based on the exact symptoms and errors and having someone experienced do the work is usually a good thing because sometimes things can simply be judgement calls based upon past experience.

there are tons of different cleaners... CCleaner, ace utilies, lavasoft ad-aware
however the best thing to keep a HD, and PC running strong and fast is:
-back up your personal stuff
-reformat the hd
-reinstall the software you need
-make a ghost image on another hd(external) of your pc hd, exactly the way you want it
-every few months back up your personal stuff
-reflash your pc had with your ghost image....

I've been testing microsoft security essentials for a while now and I like it, does not come with all that un-needed crap that Antivir and AVG comes with.
Google microsoft security essentials, download, install and run full system scan.
Also like people above have said, run CCleaner, defrag system as well. Also, download and install malwarebytes and run full system scan as well. I've discovered that Malwarebytes can find more things wrong than Spybot.

I don't run any anti-virus and I just use the built in firewall. I've also never ran defragmenter.
I have had absolutely Zero trojans, viruses, and malwares over the past several years.
Oh wait. It's a Mac.
Teasing aside, MBAM is the shiz of freeware malware removal. Run the full scan and keep it updated and you should be good to go.
It doesn't replace a good anti-virus program, but I find it does a better job on malware than Lavasoft or the Microsoft Malicious software removal tool.
