Horizontal lines on my tv while watching movies...

I have horizontal lines that are towards the bottom of my screen. IDK why they are there. It looks as though the top and bottom part of the picture won't line up. I use WMP and it's not as noticeable, much worse with VLC and I just don't know why they are there.

Perhaps something to do with my video card? IDK??

I watch movies on my tv through my computer. Any ideas? I believe i have the cccp codec pack.

    LCD, not colored lines.

Picture this...it's like the top part of the screen it a small tich to the right and the bottom part is a tich to the left, just enough to notice, but it's really not that bad.

It only happnes when the camera pans, still photgraphy or even being on ls1.com, it's fine, it's just when the camera is moving around in a movie.

Weird problem and I doubt i'll be able to figure it out, just curious if anyone has seen this before.

    I haven't tried that yet. It's always 16:9.

Seems to not be as bad in 4:3, but still there. Too bad too, watching a nice HD movie and it's annoying.

Sounds like it may be a cable problem.
How do you connect you to your TV and monitor?
From what I've seen, at 1080p, you can't go through a passive splitter and you need a Very Good quality HDMI cable (get one at monoprice).

Also, even going through a DVI to HDMI adapter connector can be a problem. You may need a dedicated DVI to HDMI cable.

Also, after you hook up the TV, have you tried to wait 1 min, let the TV and PC sync up the HDMI protocols, and then turn off the TV, then turn the TV back on?

Or, have the TV off, hook up the HDMI cable, and then turn the TV on?

The TV/monitor may have to do a full reset to properly sync up with the signal. There's much more going on that just setting the frame rate and quality.

In one of my old configurations, my HP 26" monitor often wanted to be turned off and on after the PC was fully booted up. Otherwise, I could get ghost lines with some displays. It was because of my cabling setup and I was getting a borderline signal to my monitor. So, by turning the monitor of/on, the monitor would readjust the line/cable equalization in it's chipset.

    Good Luck!

I use an HDMI cable (from monoprice) straight from the cpu to the tv. The CPU has HDMI output so i don't use any converters. It's always hooked up and it seems to me, it only does this on .h264 format but i'm not sure about that yet.

Some movies are worse than others.

do you have the resolution set right on the PC to match the TV's max resolution? I had that problem and I just set the display settings to match the highest resolution possible on the TV and the picture is great now. Also do you use the TV as the primary monitor? or do you run 2?

I was day dreaming the other day and wondering if that had something to do with it. I will check it out. Thanks for the reminder.

I use it as the only monitor.

Yea I built a home entertainment pc and finally got an LCD last week and was disapointed at first of the picture and as soon as I realized that the ATI software didn't set the resolution correct I changed it and WOW. I now have a 32 inch TV that has better picture than my gamming PC's 23inch. It is flawless with my downloaded shows. down loaded Boston Legal looks better on it that than off my HD cable box and 42inch HD tv when they were broadcasted. Hope that is it. Also make sure the video card drivers are curent.

1920x1080 is what moved it to the center of the screen.

1360x768 seems to be working better

omg i think it's fixed! thanks a bunch if this is all it was.

quick question. i downloaded the matrix in 1080p and the picture skips and i can't fast forward through the video, does this mean my processor can't handle it, because my video card should be able to no problem.

hm. I would check the video card driver first and then the chipset. What can your tv decode? 720p 1080i or 1080P

I'm not extremely knowledgeable but i will tell you what i know.

AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 4200+ 2.21 Ghz

I have 2 GB of RAM. It doesn't really max out, so it might be ok.

    Here's the video card I bought. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102817
