    ghost buck...

Went bow hunting all last week and got this guy. 13 point buck. It was really foggy Friday morning and I really hadn't seen much all week. I was in the stand before sun up and about 8am out of the dense fog behind me I see this guy making his way through the pines towards me. I zipped him at about 20 yards on a quartering towards me shot. I hit a shade left and clipped a lung, went through the liver, and exited his hind quarter. He went about 20 yards after the shot and the rest is history. Not a huge bodied buck and I would guess him to be ~3 years old. I hunt national forest which is public land so most deer get taken well before 3. This is a great buck for that land. I have a Missouri 9 point on the wall that this rack will fit inside of.

Thanks. He's decent sized. Not nearly as big as some farm land bucks I see. They eat much better and live a lot longer than public land bucks. I typically just hunt for the freezer anyhow. I get 2-3 deer a year and that lasts us pretty much the entire year. I never buy beef for the house. I'll eat it out when I go to a steak house or something but around here it's venison only. I dropped the mount off to the taxidermist last week. The guy I'm having do it does incredible work. He placed 1st in white tails at the world taxidermy championships. He does some cool stuff with their ears and eyes to give them a very realistic look.www.wildlifebydesign.net
If you go there check out the ears on some of the mounts. He gives them a little half twist to give them the look that they heard something from the direction their heads are turned.

not sure. I never weigh my deer although I need to get a scale and start doing that. I can weigh the 3 paper grocery sacks of meat for you if you'd like?? I would guess him to be in the neighborhood of 200lbs
