    Replacing Turn Signals

Alright so i'm replacing my front turn signal bulbs and housings on my 01 TA because they are cracked and one of the bulbs is burned out...now I found how to get to them. Obviously the plastic cover underneath needs to be unbolted and moved out of the way allowing you to reach up in there. However when it comes to actually unscrewing the light housings I run into a problem. There are two 7mm bolts holding them in. I can't reach those bolts, the angle is really bad and I can't unscrew them. I actually can't even see them, I have to feel my way around.

Anyway I need input from anyone who has done this before...thanks.

May not be any help but on the Z28, I went in from the top by removing the headlamps. It was a whole lot easier as you can see.

I just take them to chevy and have them deal with it, had to get one replaced once cause humidity kept getting inside and burning the light out so i dropped the car off and though maybe an hour, ended up taking 6 hours! I know it didnt take 6 hours to take off, it took 20 minutes to do it complete. I was so pissed but thats the quality of a job GM does! Good luck with getting the corner lights replaced, im just going off!

Once you have them out, use the 3rd gen trick of drilling some drain holes underneath the signal unit so the water drains properly..

So you think through the top is the best way? I'm not sure exactly how to take the T/A pop-up lights out, being controlled by a motor and all...its a hell of a lot simpler to go through the bottom but I can't reach the damn bolts...i'll mess with it again tomorrow when I have more time.

Maybe i'll just buy a Chiltons or something...unless there is a better manual?

I found a real small socket wrench and managed to just barely (even with small hands) get in there and get them out from the top - I removed the plastic covers on the headlights to clear room.

I actually did some of the work through the bottom though its really hard...anyway its worth it as the car looks 10 times better now. The signal lights before were cracked and cloudy and just plain ugly. Now they shine and reflect and give that intimidating look from a distance the car should have (DRL's). The bulbs I used are stock replacements from O'Rileys.
